Cherished Number Plates

Car Marks are a company well renowned throughout the UK for buying and selling cherished number plates. Established in 1968, they have advertised in the Sunday Times since the early 1970's, the national press and other magazines including Top Marques and Auto Trader.

In about 1963, registration plates in the UK had the letter A added to the end of the combination of letters and numbers, and the letters went through the alphabet to indicate which year it was, e.g., B for 1964, C for 1965, and so on. Prior to that, there had been no year identifier on the number plates, and the dateless British registration marks are now very desirable as cherished registration plates.

When the year identifier is at the end of the combination, it is called a suffix registration, and would have three letters and would be followed by the number range 1 to 999. For example, as plate such as JOE 38M would be considered a cherished reg plate by someone called Joe, who wanted a personalised UK plate.

Prefix registration marks are combinations with the year identifier at the beginning of the combination, such as H65 JOE, which would be used as a cherished number plate. The number range 1 to 20 on the A to H prefix have been withheld for select issue. On the newer prefix range from J onward certain numbers are withheld for select issue and may be bought subject to availability, for those people in the UK wanting cherished registration plates.

We are experts at negotiating the buying and selling of such personal number plates, and are available seven days a week to help with any enquiries.
