Please note that the suffixes I, O, Q, U and Z have not been issued. The letter I and Z are not used in the system as they are reserved for Northern Ireland, who use a different system. The letter Q is used to show vehicles of an unknown age. The letter O is not used as it could be mistaken for the number zero and the U could be mistaken for a V.
